Just a lil lad Ezra.
Panel 1 [Ezra frowns and looks down at his hands, deep in thought.]
EZRA:
There are captains who’ve been men like me. Looked like me. Started like me.
Panel 2 [flashback of Ezra in his dad’s carpenter shop as a boy, listening to his father’s stories. He's sweeping sawdust while looking over his shoulder at ships in the harbor.]
EZRA:
My pa would tell me stories ‘bout ‘em all day while I swept sawdust in his shop. I was gazin’ all the while out at those ships. Those men built somethin’.
I wanna build somethin’. I already am
Panel 3 [Ezra looks slightly sorrowful or disappointed while Josué's voice comes off camera]
JOSÚE:
Just shove off and build a house and leave it at that. Get old, get drunk.
EZRA:
I want more than that. And the sea can give it to me.
