  1. Wow…it seemed so much bigger while in action. Now the whale just looks sad.

    1. Yeah…Yeah ):

  2. Oh nooo, I’m caught up and now have to wait for the updates D: What a sad note to wait on, too. At least the words-ghost has been quiet for the last while.

    1. Thank you for reading! The next update will be on August 16th (unless you’re on patreon at which point pages just come as I finish them). And, if I work particularly hard this month, I’ll say what happens in the next pages will start to draw that ghost out of the woodwork. I’m gonna try to wrap up act 1 by the next batch!

  3. Don't make me signup please.

Please someone recommend Deadloch 2023 tv series to starfoozle and chaumas.
Also this comic is seriously beautiful, every update is just a delight to look at the drawing style and the anticipation for when things start going wrong is really building.

    1. Thank you for reading!

  4. If this is handdrawn, is it white ink on black paper or a whoooole lot of black ink ?
It’d be a lot cheaper on ink if it were done on a tablet 😉

    1. Oh it’s all done digitally! For the financial reason you mentioned, and also make my life a little easier haha.

      1. A lot of comics are done on tablets with a stylus now and to be honest, I often have trouble distinguishing from that and ‘old fashioned’ ‘real’ pen and ink. I suppose the stylus acts in the same way as apen and gives it that hand drawn look, since it still is, but even backfills like the sea in this page, look like they were done with a brush.
Call me old, mostly because I am, but this has a look I like. I also like traditional ‘cartoon’ style and 3D art really gets my attention, depending on how well it’s done. The only thing I don’t care much for is the ‘coloured pencils in the hands of a five year old’ look that crops up with surprising frequency, and the watercolour look.

  5. and nobody mentioned the circling sharks waiting for a free meal…….

  6. This is such a beautiful page… congrats on getting through such a tense and violent chapter! I LOVE this comic and your essays too… you’re up there with Sarah Airiess’ Worst Journey in the World for historical tall ship comics. I’m toning my second comic rn so I love observing your sepia tones, and how the big simple round brushes layer together and contrast with the more analogue-looking linework. And of course, the way you render water splashing around.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words! I’ve never read the Worst Journey in the World; I’ll definitely have to check it out! I hope your own tone work goes smoothly.
