Panel 1 [Ezra’s mother looks over at him with a tired expression.]

MA:
The sea ain’t your only choice like you say.

Panel 2 [Ezra puts his head in his hand, exasperated, while ma continues to speak, off camera.]

MA:
Your father made decent money. And his work didn't steal him away from us for years at a time.

Panel 3 [Ezra lifts his head, still frustrated as his mother insists.]

EZRA:
He was a carpenter.

MA:
A respectable job.

EZRA:
And he was always gonna be a carpenter. There wasn't nothin’ more than that.

Panel 4 [Ezra’s mother is frustrated and angry now, standing up]

MA:
Do you know what it took for your father to build a life for us here? For you and your sister to be born here?

Panel 5 [She points towards the door, still frustrated and upset]

MA:
For you to grow up lookin’ at those damn ships that put all these fool ideas in your head that’ll kill you ‘fore your time.
