New chapter! A little play before embarking once more!
Panel 1 [Shot of the ship in the water, a glow coming from it, sails rolled up. A voice shouts from it]
JOSIAH:
Villain!
Panel 2 [Shot on the deck. The main hatch has been turned into a stage where Josiah, Josué, and George are playing roles in makeshift costumes. Josiah brandishes a flensing knife like a sword, in character. He’s wearing a battered jacket with epaulettes. The rest of the crew is sitting in a ring before them]
JOSIAH:
You’ll never take my Mary Anne as your bride!
Panel 3 [Josué is wearing a long coat, also holding a flensing knife like a cutlass at the throat of George, who’s wearing a sheet around his waist like a dress and a mess of untwisted rope on top of his head]
JOSUÉ:
Bride? What’s a man like me want for a bride when I have all these lads sailing with me under the black?
Panel 4 [Josué’s voice comes off camera overhead, as there’s a shot of the crew sitting on the deck. The letter bag picked up from Faial is being passed amongst them, people pulling out letters addressed to them and newspapers from the land. Other men chatting with each other, smoking. Others grinning at the play. Many of them eating food above decks, including some of their shares of fresh provisions from the Azores]
JOSUÉ:
No! We’ll ransom her for $400 and feast the world around.
