EZRA:
Well hopefully for the sake of the voyage you won’t be tryin’ to imagine it for too long.
Panel 2 [Ezra glances over his shoulder, presumably at Lawrence]
EZRA:
And I’ll let you in on somethin’: everyone’s scared all to hell when they lower. Excited, sure, but scared. They’ll be feelin’ what you’re feelin’. But try not to show it.
LAWRENCE:
I can't make any promises, but I'll try.
Panel 3 [Pulled back shot as the pair continue coiling the tubs. Ezra is laughing and Lawrence looks slightly puzzled. Josué and João are fitting out one of the whaleboats in the background.]
EZRA:
Where you from, anyway?
LAWRENCE:
New Hampshire. Near Newport, if you’re familiar with it.
EZRA:
Ha!
LAWRENCE:
That’s amusing?

No it’s just, hah, my guess was pretty good.
When you bumped into us in New Bedford Josué had me guess where you were from.
I said Vermont, based on how you were lookin’ at those ships. Not a lotta time by the sea, I figured.
EZRA:
