Panel 1 [Flashback shot in a whaleboat, the line running violently violently between the men at the oars. One is standing up to dump a bucket of water on the line as it smokes. Ezra and Lawrence's voices are overlaid the scene]

EZRA:
When this line is runnin’ from a whale you don't want any snags. I saw a man get his leg sliced half through once. 

I saw a man hauled overboard and near drowned twice again. It’ll take the whole damn boat down if you’re real unlucky.

LAWRENCE:
I can believe it.

Panel 2 [pulled back shot of the two talking to each other as Ezra keeps working and Lawrence keeps pulling the line down.]

EZRA:
We do as much of this as we can at the top of the voyage, so once we get to the cruisin’ grounds there’s but one thing to think 'bout. But if a whale spouts, any time, everythin’ drops.

Panel 3 [Lawrence looks out over ocean too with a quiet, concerned expression. Ezra’s words come off camera.]

EZRA:
You look like you ain’t sure you wanna see one.

Panel 4 [Camera pulled back to show Ezra and Lawrence still working on the tub. Lawrence looks pensive, and Ezra's grinning.]

LAWRENCE:
The prospect of hunting them does set me ill at ease, I admit.

EZRA:
You squeamish?

LAWRENCE:
No, no, certainly not. I’ve seen plenty of blood in my time.

Panel 5 [Close up shot of Lawrence frowning thoughtfully.]

LAWRENCE:
But a tiny man felling such a creature. It’s…hard for me to imagine possible.
