Sorry for only getting out one page this month...I have no excuse except that I've been busy falling in love, APOLOGIES!
Panel 1 [Towards the stern of the deck, Barzillai is speaking quietly with third mate Charles.]
BARZILLAI:
When we reach Fayal I want you to bring that lad who fell from the masthead ashore with you. Take him to a doctor and we’ll discharge him on the island.
Panel 2 [Closer shot of Barzillai speaking to Charles, who looks troubled, lost in his head]
CHARLES:
Who will see him home?
BARZILLAI:
There’s always some ship headed back to New Bedford. That’s not our trouble.
Panel 3 [Charles, still lost in thought.]
CHARLES:
Just a boy. Too young to be so maimed.
Panel 4 [Barzillai is less troubled by the situation, turning to survey the work on the deck. Charles, behind him, takes no comfort in his words]
BARZILLAI:
That’s the risk a man takes in signing aboard a whaler. He’s lucky to be alive. And discharging him is the best chance at him staying alive.
Panel 5 [Barzillai looks over his shoulder, presumably at Charles]
BARZILLAI:
I’ll prepare the crew for our arrival.

That’s a bit cold. 🙁
Silas
Barzillai can certainly be a chilly man.
Jack
Have you considered it’s actually very selfish to fall in love when unwell nautically obsessed randos online are obsessed with your comic???
Lizzy
How dare you fall in love! Artist, I demand that you take your needed time to produce us more of this fine whaling ghost story
Lizzy
Huh, is that our doctor with the captain? His hair is different, receding.
Silas
Nope, that’s the third mate, Charles. They’ve got a similar look. White Men of a Certain Era, you know.
Lizzy
Ah, I see! Thanks!
Jack
We need to sabotage Silas’ love life to keep this webcomic going
Cyril
Congrats on the love!
I hope the poor kid can find safe transport and find another job without too much trouble, I imagine that if he’s joined a whaling team he really needed the job.
Always happy to see a page of this, hope you’re having a good day 🙂
Silas
Thank you for your kind words!
I’ll leave Jackson’s fate up to the readers. You can give him a happy ending if you’d like!
Cyril
Then I will imagine that he finds a lucky position in a boatyard, mending sails, selling ropes, patching hulls, and the like. Hopefully he will be able to send money home and find a family, if he so desires.

I finally figured out how to navigate the pages. Pretty good for a half blind dinosaur. Your story pulled me in immediately. The illustrations are awesome. I’m in awe of people who follow their dream and put it out there for the public. I appreciate you sending the link. I will be faithful in my reading here. Thank you
Silas
Thank you so much for reading and for your kind words!

Such a good comic! I was just having a conversation with my brother and I think I got him hooked. Hope you’re doing well, and thank you for sharing your art!
Silas
Thank you so much for reading, and for your kind words!

Are we all done here or should I keep checking in? I was enjoying the story and the artwork.
Silas
Glad to hear you’re enjoying it! The comic is going to end at around 430 pages, so we’re certainly not done! But it will take quite a while to complete as it’s a labor of love done for free where I can find the time. I took a break from it for a bit, but I’m back to working on it now! It updates in batches on the 2nd or 3rd Wednesday of each month, depending on which date falls mid-month, so check back around then. Thanks for reading!
Jim Z
Good to hear!
