Panel 1 [Shot in focsle. Jackson is weeping in his bunk, his leg amputated at the thigh and his pants cinched over it. The rest of the crew sheepishly looks on. Lawrence's voice comes off camera]

I’d place his chances of survival at 50 percent if he stays on the ship. At best.

BARZILLAI:
We’re making a provision stop in the Azores. We’ll discharge him there.
Panel 3 [Pulled back shot as the two men walk down the tween deck towards the officer's cabins.]
BARZILLAI:
A surgeon. Never would’ve thought.
LAWRENCE:
I studied at Dartmouth Medical School.
BARZILLAI:
And you said nothing?

Loved the Azores, wish I could have stayed there. Really quiet and pretty…until they ran the bulls through the streets 😉

I want to go someday! Tho, in better circumstances than this lad.

From what I’ve read and the odd youtube clip I looked at just for old times’ sake, it’s changed drastically there even from the 80’s when I was going, and like most places in the world today, not for the better 🙁
In a sort of serendipitous coincidence, or maybe not, while stripping the xmas decorations down my wife found an old 3-D wooden wall diorama I picked up there and hadn’t seen in about 30 years, the interior view of a one room peasant cabin with a music box you turn on by shifting a little arm holding a pot on a chain over the hearth. It’s funny how this sort of ‘coincidence’ continually seems to happen but I’m used to it 🙂

What a charming sounding object

It used to be, it doesn’t work now, I think someone overwound it so maybe I’ll have a go at fixing it if I get around to it, my fingers don’t deal with tiny parts as well as they used to but that’s alright, I can’t see them anyway 😉 Should be able to relax the spring though.

Well now, look at who’s a lot more qualified than we thought!!
