Panel 2 [Lawrence is wiping down the syringe as his next patient, Josiah, steps up to him]

JOSIAH:
It’s boils, doc.

Panel 3 [Lawrence, looking tired and electing not to put the syringe away, looks up at him]

LAWRENCE:
…Where are they located?

Panel 4 [Josiah shows Lawrence the sores on his arms, painful-looking boils]

JOSIAH:
Hands, arms, it’s from the whale grease. Eats away at ya sometimes. Not only me, but a buncha boys in this line come for the same thing since we been employed cutting in these past few days.

Panel 5 [Lawrence leans in to look at the boils more closely as Josiah keeps holding his arms out. Lawrence is frowning slightly]

LAWRENCE:
Hmm. We’ll try basilicon ointment and burgundy pitch.

    YOOOO i finally actually sat down and read this whole thing and i’m unbelievably in love with all of it; i love all the characters so much (ezra and manner especially; i adore them. ezra will you please accept a hand kiss from me); brutality is SOOO fuckign cool and i’ve been so excited to actually see him in action since seeing you posting about him on tumblr; i love the writing of all of it and the clear amount of love and attention to detail you’re putting into it; i love the things that feel melville-an but with your own twist on it; i’m having a thoroughly fantastic time here. and i am SO so excited for more, especially more Brutality. one whaling comic nerd to another, many hats off to you <3
