Panel 1 [shot outside of Horta's post office. Barzillai and Adelaide are exiting, and Barzillai is carrying a sack in one hand]

BARZILLAI:
There are more letters for the men than I expected.

Panel 2 [Barzillai and Adelaide continue down the street, Adelaide looking down at the bundle of letters in her husband’s hand]

ADELAIDE:
I’m sure the contents of that bag will make them very happy. Or very sad.

BARZILLAI:
It’s often both at once.

Panel 3 [Barzillai muses, looking off to the side]

BARZILLAI:
And then there’s the poor souls who don’t get a letter at all. Just wandering the deck like lost dogs trying to buy one off their mates. There’s a real market for letters from someone else’s sweetheart.

Panel 4 [Adelaide looks at Barzillai with a sad smile as Barzillai looks fond]

ADELAIDE:
I tried to always write you ones where the words wouldn’t spoil, knowing you’d get them months later. Years later.

BARZILLAI:
I saved them all. There’s a false bottom in my desk drawer. Now you know.

Panel 5 [Barzillai pauses, lifting Adelaide’s hand to kiss the back of it. He murmurs against the back of her hand.]

BARZILLAI:
I’m so thankful you’re here. I wasn’t sure about it at the beginning, but now I’m glad you insisted.
